Global Opportunities

This service is an electronic version of the "Announcements" section of the Austrian Studies Newsletter. The four categories of opportunities for students and scholars that we publicize are:

  • Events: Notices of exhibitions, performances, screenings and other special events
  • Call for Papers: Invitations to participate in conferences around the world
  • Conferences and Symposia: Notices of conferences on Austrian and Central European topics around the world
  • Journals: Notices of new electronic and print journals and invitations to submit
  • Study Programs: Notices of seminars, courses, and other educational and cultural opportunities, which can include fellowships and study programs with stipends or financial aid

Unlike a publication that produces in hard copy, the CAS website can post items quickly, has no deadline, and has almost no space limitations. Therefore, we can post announcements that institutions, organizations, and individuals send to us quickly and in much greater detail.

How to Submit

As with the ASN, we will depend in large part on contributors who wish to publicize their events, opportunities, etc. Please submit news items by e-mail to Daniel Pinkerton.

We prefer announcements to be in English, the language of this website, but as many in our audience read German, we will also accept (and post) announcements in German. We urge you to give complete information for contacting you or your organization. You should include as many of the following as possible: address, telephone number, fax number, e-mail address, website URL, and the name of a contact person. Your audience will greatly appreciate this.

The CAS news service will be updated at least twice a month. Please remember that our worldwide audience needs notice as far in advance as can be provided. In addition, bear in mind that we are a multidisciplinary center interested in offering news of events in the arts, humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences; that we are committed to integrated study of Central European lands with a common Habsburg heritage; and that our audience consists not only of scholars and students, but also of a general public.

Note: Announcements regarding CAS programs and activities (conferences, funding opportunities, AHY, etc.) are available in other sections of this website.
